Tupac Amaru Shakur was a famous music artist and rapper.He was also an actor. He was famous for his two famous stage names 2Pac and Makaveli. More than 75 million records were sold by Tupac worldwide. He was recognized as the best selling music artists of all the times.
Among the best selling albums of Tupac, the two most famous were released in 1996 and 1998 by the titles of All Eyez on Me and Greatest Hits respectively. Shakur is not only the great rapper but most influential music artist of all the times. He has also been listed and ranked to be one of the greatest artists of America of all the times. After his work Rolling Stone, he was ranked on 86 among the 100 greatest artists of all the times. It was on 7th of April 2017 when he was included in the Rock and Roll Hall of fame for the first time.
Shakur was born on 16th of June in 1971. He was born of an African American family in the East Herlem part of Manhattan in New York City. On his birth he was named as Lesane Parish Crooks. He was named Tupac Amaruu after the great revolutionary Peruvian leader who was hanged for uprising in the Spanish rule.
Shakur’s parents were Billy Garland and Afeni Shakur and both of them were active members of the Black Panther Party in New York. They were the party activists in 1960s and 1970s. Shakur’s mother was charged of 150 charges for conspiracy against the government of United States and the New York Landmarks. She also underwent the New York Panther 21 Trial and ter one month of that Shakur was born.
A lot of people involved in the life of Shakur were in the Black Liberation Army and were also convicted of some criminal offenses. They were also put to prison including his mother. Shakur’s godfather Geronimo Pratt, who was a high ranking black panther, was convicted of murdering the school teacher during a robbery in 1968. However the sentence was overturned later on.
Shakur’s career was started as a roadie and a back up dancer and MC in a hip hop solo artist by the name of Digital Underground. Finally he branched off as a solo artist and rapper. In most of the cases the themes of Shakur’s songs were based on violence, racism, hardships and other social issues. As both his parents and other people associated to his life were associated to Black Panther and their ideals were also reflected in his songs.
In another phase of his music career, he was seen in conflict with the rappers and producers of East coast and West coast hip hop music. Other than music, Shakur was also involved in acting and was starred in many TV shows and films in the decade of 1990s.
On 7th of September in 1996, he was shot four times in a drive by shooting at the point of intersection of Flamingo Road and Koval Lane in Las Vegas.
