Martha Stewart is the founder of Martha Stewart living Omnimedia Inc. (MSLO), which is owned by Sequential Brands Group. It is a diversified media and merchandising company since 2015, headquartered in New York. Martha is acknowledged for a number of her achievements. Basically, she has ventured in many areas of business; encompassing publishing, broadcasting, merchandising and E-commerce.
She also holds the title of bestseller author of a number of books. She is the publisher of the Martha Stewart magazine and also hosted two television shows: Martha and Martha Stewart Living.
With so much on her plate, Martha has a net worth of a gross US $300 million, placing her among the Ultra High Net Worth Individuals (UHNWI) list. She began appearing on TV as a model at a mere age of 15. Later she was featured for several TV commercials and magazines. She was also active in extra-curricular activities in her school like in Art Club.
Stewart began a second career as a stockbroker in 1967. After that point, she saw many phases of life. The first book that she released was Entertaining, and came up with several more like Weddings (1987) and Martha Stewart’s Christmas (1989) among others. She also made a number of TV appearances which gained her popularity, such as on The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Martha’s foundation MSLO went public on 1999, and made Stewart the first female, self-made billionaire in the U.S. She is still the majority shareholder in the company. But every moon has two faces; she was convicted of felony charges of conspiracy and other offences and was sentenced and sent behind the bars in 2004. She was released from the jail on March 4,2005, launching a highly publicised comeback.
