Hardwell was born on 7th January, 1988 in Breda. His parents were Anneke and Cor van de Corupt. His love for music is deep rooted. He was introduced to music from quite an early age. Precisely at the age of four, he was made to attend piano lessons and attend a music school; He was so passionate about music that he produced his first song at the age of twelve. His first song was in the field of electro while he gave a performance of a hip hop DJ. He had interest in Martial Arts as well. He knew Judo from a very young age.
Hardwell was mostly influenced by a DJ Tiesto who also came from Breda, his hometown. That is why Hardwell got more inclined towards being a DJ than a Pop star initially. He started making remixes and uploaded them on different platforms over the internet.
He was offered a record deal which he accepted and entered into the music industry. Hardwell’s first official single was “Play it Around”. That came out in 2006 which was a combination of different genres and included some of his own style.
In 2011, March, Hardwell started his own Podcast “Hardwell On Air”. This was a one-hour show where he played songs of selected artists. It is broadcasted in Netherlands on Slam! and on Sirius XM in the United States of America. In 2010, Hardwell introduced his own recording label named Revealed Recordings. That was a hit and was ranked as #24 in Top DJ lists.
In 2014, Hardwell made a leap towards documentaries and got a documentary published with the name: “ I Am Hardwell”. He made this documentary on his career and got the services of the director Robin Piree. Hardwell believes on the fact that “If you can dream it, you can do it”. This motto inspired him to become the best DJ of the world.
When he was just 16, it was his dream to be the best which he achieved so early in life. The soundtrack for the documentary was released separately. In 2016, Hardwell performed as a voice over actor in a film “The Secret Life of Pets”. This was an animated film. He gave his voice to a little pug. He himself loves to own a pug named Jager. In 2018, Hardwell celebrates the 350th episode of his Podcast being on air.
Hardwell describes his style of music as a sub-genre of multiple music styles. His initial music was inspired by hip hop underground scene. Hardwell presented his first studio in 2015. The studio was designed by Jan Morel.
