The Nigerian record producer, singer, songwriter and dancer, Don Jazzy is a rich and smart guy who knows how to make bucks! His real name is Michael Collins Ajereh and he belongs to the Lagos state in Nigeria. In 2004, he founded his own record label company:  Mo’ Hits Records. He is the founder of Mavin Records that he founded on 8th May, 2012.

Career

Ajereh was raised in Ajegunle, Lagos. He went to a co-educational institute which was Federal Government College Lagos. He was inspired by the music industry and developed an interest in music when he was 12. At that age, he started to master to play bass guitar. He also learnt to play various other instruments at early age. He got admission in Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo state in order to study business management studies.

He went to London in the year 2000. He was invited to play drums at a local church. Later, he got employment in London as a security guard but he continued to develop his music and follow his interest. He made in collaboration with D’banj, The 419 Squad and some more. He also learnt producing skills from the record company Emeka Infiniti at O-Town.

He launched Mavin Records in 2004 with the vision that it will serve as the power House of Music in Africa in as little time as possible. Not only his words were proven to be true, he also made huge money from that company

Collaborative efforts

He has made a number of songs with other artists. He worked with Kanye West & Jay-Z in their single Lift Off in which they also featured Beyoncé. He made a single Ijoya with Weird MC. In another single Stroke Me, he collaborated with Darey. Darey was also featured in their collaborative single Escalade part 2.

He worked with Shank in their single Never Felt and also with Ikechukwu in a number of singles like: Like You, Do, Critical, All on Me and Now is the time. He also worked with Sauce Kid in the single Under G and worked with Naeto C in their collaborative single Asewo. He also worked with D’banj in Give It To me.

Awards and Nominations

Being such a diverse artist, he has won many awards and has gotten nominated for quite a few. He won the award for Producer of the Year at the Nigerian Music Awards (2006). He won the award for Music Producer of the Year at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards in the year 2007.

At the Headies 2011, he won the award for Producer of the Year for Over The Moon, Pop Something and Mr. Endowed.

At the Headies 2014, he won the award fro Producer of the Year for Dorobucci. In the year 2015, he won a special recognition award at the City People Entertainment Awards.
